安徽农业大学坐落于“三国故地、包拯家乡”安徽省会合肥市市区，是省属重点高校，是一所以农林学科为优势，以生命学科为特色，农学、工学、理学、经济学、管理学、文学、法学、医学、教育学等多学科协调发展的教学研究型大学。学校源于1928年成立的省立安徽大学，1935年成立农学院，1954年独立办学，1995年更名为安徽农业大学。学校占地210公顷，是安徽省花园式学校。

学校现设有16个学院，64个本科专业，现有教职工1599人，正高职称130人，其中教授122人，副高职称307人，其中副教授200人，博士生、硕士生导师260多名，具有博士学位的105人，硕士学位的424人；设有安徽省“皖江学者奖励计划”4个特聘教授岗位和3个讲席教授岗位。现有全日制普通在校生27174人，其中本科生17010人，研究生1209人。学校与20多个国家和地区的高校、科研院所建立了合作关系，积极发展留学生教育。

学校是国家首批硕士学位授权单位，1998年被批准为博士学位授权单位。现有9个省部级重点学科；1个博士后科研流动站，1个一级学科博士学位授权点，14个二级学科博士学位授权点，61个硕士学位授权点。1个国家重点实验室培育基地，4个省部级重点实验室，1个省级人文社科研究基地。建有高科技农业园、农萃园、品种园、机电工程园等校内教学科研园区。近五年来，学校承担“973”、“863”、“948”、国家科技支撑计划等国家级、省部级科研课题1300多项，科技经费近亿元，获省科技成果一等奖等省部级以上成果奖励200多项。

学校坚持育人为本，德育为先，深化教育教学改革，不断强化人才培养质量。按照“厚基础、宽口径、强能力、高素质”的人才培养目标，努力培养创新型、创业型人才，2003年通过教育部本科教学工作水平评估，2004年全面实施学分制改革，近三年，学生在“挑战杯”竞赛等国家级和省级各类活动中荣获100多项金银铜奖；学校先后荣获“全国大中专学生志愿者暑期‘三下乡’社会实践活动先进单位”、“全国大学生志愿服务西部计划示范高校创建单位”和“安徽省普通高校毕业生就业工作先进集体”、 “安徽省高等学校思想政治教育工作评估优秀单位”。
