阳泉市位于山西省东部，境内山川叠翠，矿藏资源丰富，素有“煤铁之乡”的美誉。在这块土地上，活跃着一支仅有25人的测绘队伍——阳泉市国土资源测绘院。
    该院的前身是阳泉市勘测队，创业之初仅有两个人和简单的测绘仪器。经过几年的拼搏，如今的测绘院已今非昔比。全院测绘产值达100多万元，拥有全套的现代化测绘设备。
    近日，记者走进这家在当地颇有名气的测绘单位。在宽敞明亮的办公室内，整齐划一的电脑桌前坐着年轻的作业人员，充满着青春的朝气。
    说起测绘院走过的发展之路，院长张亚东的脸上露出自豪与兴奋。他告诉记者，创业初期他们只有两个人，加上一台老式的国产测距仪。1998年，他们第一次揽到一个变电站的测量任务。活是揽到了，但能不能干好，连他们自己的心里也没底。开弓没有回头箭，为了拿下这个任务，张亚东和他的伙伴们付出了全部的心血。每天，天刚蒙蒙亮就出发去野外测量，饿了啃上一口干馒头，渴了喝一口凉水，继续干。晚上回来，还要加班整理数据、绘图，每一个技术细节都做到一丝不苟。就这样，他们靠着顽强的毅力，按照合同要求完成了任务。
    辛勤的耕耘得到了回报，他们测绘的成果经验收全部达到优良。供电局的领导和专家称赞道：“真没想到你们测绘的成果质量这么好。”
    成果验收后，他们得到3万元项目款。 “钱是次要的，重要的是我们抓住了机遇，锻炼了自己，树立了信心。我们正是抓住了每一次机遇，克服了多种困难，才有了今天的成绩。” 张亚东由衷地说。
    此后，他们又接连接了几项任务，每次都以严谨认真、一丝不苟的工作态度和优良的成果，得到用户的好评。仅仅三四个月时间，他们就赚了6万元，掘到了创业的“第一桶金”。通过诚信的服务和优质的成果，小小勘测队在用户心中树立了良好的形象，在市场中争得一席之地。
    2001年，阳泉市土地与矿产部门合并为国土资源局，勘测队划归市国土资源局，并更名为国土资源测绘院，这给他们带来了难得的发展机遇。
    抢抓机遇必须先练好“内功”。创业之初的勘测队，靠的是手工绘图，工作既辛苦，效率又不高。有了钱之后，他们立即添置了全站仪、绘图仪、电脑等现代化设备和绘图软件，摆脱了手工绘图，技术实力大大提升。紧接着，他们又把提高队伍整体素质摆上重要日程。针对新来人员业务不熟的问题，大力开展技术培训，聘请专家带领队员操作，言传身教，使新来的职工在很短的时间内就熟悉了测量工作。
    有了先进的技术设备和高素质的人才队伍，测绘院的服务范围不断拓展，尤其是征地勘测定界业务量大幅增加，由此带来经济效益逐年提升。同时，该院通过放线工作，逐步把全市的地籍资料收集起来；通过与各测绘资质单位联系、沟通，推进地理信息资源共享，将全市1：1万、1：500、1：2000比例尺地形图全部收集齐。丰富的地理信息资源，为全院今后的发展奠定了坚实的基础。
    一分耕耘一分收获。2005年，该院被省人事厅、省测绘局评为全省测绘系统先进单位；2009年，该院被市直机关团工委评为优秀青年文明号。
