园林学院现有园林、城市规划、旅游管理及观赏园艺四个本科专业；园林植物与观赏园艺、城市规划与设计、旅游管理三个学科，其中园林植物与观赏园艺为国家重点学科。园林植物与观赏园艺、城市规划与设计具有博士学位授予权，旅游管理具有硕士学位授予权。全院教职工现有76人，其中院士2人，教授20人，副教授19人，讲师15人，本科生、硕士生、博士生、国外留学生共1750人，“十五”期间，总规模为2500人。
　　“九五”期间完成了16项科研课题，取得了12项国家级和部级科技成果，举办全国和国际学术会议6次，给美国、韩国、台湾本学科研究生和本科生办培训班5次，出版13本学术专著，6本学术论文集，在国内国际产生了较大的影响。在规划设计方面，完成了 100余项园林规划设计项目，遍布全国30余省区，其中国家重点规划设计项目如“中南海环境改造设计”、“国务院环境改造设计”、“玉泉山环境改造设计”、“中华世纪坛环境设计”、 “杭州西湖西进可行性研究”等众多的工程项目，受到党和国家领导人的高度评价，近10年来，学院已有100多人次到美国、日本、法国、德国、意大利、以色列等40多个国家进行学术交流，1994年以来，分别与韩国庆熙大学、美国奥本大学、日本千叶大学正式签订了两院交流协议。定期进行教师和学生的互访。在人才培养方面成绩显著，有4名研究生分别获得了国际风景师协会举办的国际风景园林竞赛的一等奖和国际建筑师协会举办的国际建筑大奖赛的第一名。学院毕业生遍布全国各地，且需求量稳步增加，“九五”期间，毕业生平均供需比为1：6.5，2001年达到1：10，为祖国园林系统的人才培养做出了较大贡献。
