北京建筑工程学院是一所北京市属普通高等学校。学校的前身为创办于1936年的北平市立高级工业职业学校土木工程科。七十年变迁,五移校址,数易校名,历经高工建专、中专和大学三个发展阶段。解放初期为北京工业学校土木科,1952年为北京建筑专科学校。1953年迁至现校址,更名为北京市土木建筑工程学校。1958年升办大学,名为北京建筑工程学院。1961年又恢复中专,更名为北京建筑工程学校。1977年经国务院批准,正式升格为大学,定名为北京建筑工程学院。1982年被确定为国家首批学士学位授权高校。1985年经国务院学位办批准为硕士学位授予单位。1999年通过了教育部本科教学工作合格评价,为全国普通高等学校教学工作合格学校。2002年被北京市教委确定为城市规划、建设、管理人才培养基地。2006年通过教育部本科教学工作水平评估。2007年在北京高校党建和思想政治工作评估中被评为优秀。
    学校实行校、院两级管理。教学和教辅单位按学科专业及教学科研管理需要设置。学校现有建筑与城市规划学院、土木与交通工程学院、环境与能源工程学院、电气与信息工程学院、经济与管理工程学院、测绘与城市空间信息学院、机电与汽车工程学院、文法学院、理学院、计算机教学与网络信息部、体育部和思想政治理论课教研部等教学单位;另设有继续教育学院、高等教育研究室,分别承担成人学历教育与培训、高等教育研究和学校评建工作,并兼有管理职能;同时设有依托各学科专业进行跨学科研究的城市研究所。
    学校学科专业设置以工学为主,兼有管理学、法学和理学,目前全校共有23个全日制本科专业,其中建筑学专业是国家教育部第二批高等学校特色专业建设点,土木工程、建筑环境与设备工程、给水排水工程和工程管理专业等4个专业是北京市特色专业;土木工程、建筑学、给水排水工程、测绘工程等4个专业是北京市品牌建设专业;城市规划、建筑环境与设备工程、工程管理专业是北京市重点改造专业,土木工程专业是北京市重点建设专业。建筑环境与模拟实验教学中心、建筑电气与智能化实验教学中心是北京市实验教学示范中心,“供热、供燃气、通风及空调工程”实验室被评为北京市首批高校重点实验室。此外,学校的学科建设和学位点建设也为专业的发展和建设形成了支撑,学校现有3个一级学科硕士点、17个二级学科硕士点、2个工程硕士专业学位授予领域和1个北京市重点学科、8个北京市重点建设学科。  
 

   现有教职工950人,专任教师570人,其中,教授106人,副教授272人,占专任教师总数的65%;具有博士学位的138人,占专任教师总数的24.2%,硕士学位的275人,具有硕士和博士学位的教师占专任教师总数的72.5%;博士生导师18人,硕士生导师233人,占专任教师的44%;生师比为16:1,兼任教师9人,为专任教师总数的1.5%。

 

    截至2009年2月底,我校共有党总支13个,直属党支部5个;党支部97个,其中教工党支部56个,学生党支部29个,退休党支部12个;党员1669人,其中在职教职工党员538人,离退休党员293人,学生党员820人(研究生330、本专科学生490人),其他党员18人。2008年,我校1个党支部获得首都高校先进基层党组织、1名教师党员获得首都高校优秀共产党员称号。


    学校坚持把德育放在首位,注重校风建设和学生的全面素质教育。1995年获北京市“文明校园”称号,1996、1997年被评为“首都文明单位”,多次被评为全国及北京市“大学生社会实践活动先进单位”。同时重视学生的体育和美育教育,大力开展群体活动和文艺社团活动。我校学生田径代表队连年在北京市大学生田径运动会上获得好名次;学校选送的文艺节目多次获得市级奖励。


    学校坚持教学工作的中心地位,努力提高教育教学质量。为适应首都城市现代化建设对高级人才的需求,积极开展教育教学改革,加强基础,拓宽专业口径,强化学生工程师基本技能的训练,注重提高学生的学习能力、实践能力和创新能力,全面推进素质教育。学生多次在全国及建设部、北京市等组织的学科专业竞赛中获奖,多次在全国大学生建筑设计竞赛中获奖。在2007年北京市”挑战杯”大学生课外学术科技活动中,我校学生获得一项特等奖、一项一等奖,在2008年第五届”挑战杯”首都大学生创业计划竞赛中获得一项特等奖、一项二等奖以及多项其它奖励的佳绩。


    学校现有各级各类在校生10694人,其中,普通本专科生6584人,研究生813人,留学生39人,成人教育本专科生3258人。全日制在校生7436人,在校研究生数占全日制在校生总数的10.9%。毕业生就业率高,受到用人单位好评,毕业生主要就业于北京市各级政府所属规划、建设、管理部门和建筑设计研究院(所)及建筑、市政等企业,大多已成为技术骨干和管理骨干,为国家及首都城市规划、建设、管理做出了重要贡献。校友中涌现出了被称为“当代鲁班”的李瑞环主席,被誉为“时代先锋”的曹广辉,建筑大师罗玲、胡越、刘桂生等一大批优秀人才。前门地区保护与整治利用规划、北京历史文化名城保护、川底下古村落保护,北京地区总体规划方案、首都机场改扩建工程、北京西客站,北京三元、四元立交桥以及各环路建设、首都机场高速公路、京津塘高速公路、京沈高速公路、京张过境公路、京通公路等诸多交通工程项目,中央电视塔、毛主席纪念堂、革命历史博物馆、北京国际金融大厦、国家图书馆、国家博物馆、国家大剧院,2008年奥运会北京各主要场馆等众多工程项目都凝聚了我校教师和校友的心血。


    学校积极开展围绕首都城市发展和建筑工程领域的应用技术研究。近五年来,完成和正在承担的科研项目639项,其中国家级项目46项,包括国家级自然科学基金和社会科学基金项目24项,省部级项目101项;省部级以上科技成果奖励36项,其中国家级奖励2项;获得知识产权31项,其中专利28项,计算机软件著作权3项;公开发表论文3968篇,其中核心期刊论文1198篇,SCI、EI、ISTP、CSSCI 550篇;出版著作教材459部;科学研究经费总量达到22813万元,年均达4562.6万元;科研服务经费连续三年过亿,连续四年居市属高校前三位。学校依托自身的学科专业,积极发展校办产业,组建了具有甲级资质的建筑设计研究院和京精大房工程建设监理公司,促进产学研结合,开展社会服务。京精大房监理公司承担了国家体育馆、新中央电视台大楼等多项重要工程的监理工作,其中有4项工程获国家鲁班奖。学校还充分利用校区良好的地域环境,开办了经营性企业,为学校筹集办学资金,用以改善办学条件和教职工生活待遇。


    学校坚持开放办学,广泛开展国际教育交流与合作。目前已与美国、法国、英国、德国、俄罗斯、荷兰、意大利、新西兰、澳大利亚、香港、台湾等国家和地区的24所大学建立了校际交流与合作关系,并与荷兰代尔夫特大学、新西兰奥克兰大学联合培养博士生,与澳大利亚南澳大学联合培养土木工程领域工程硕士,与美国玛赫西大学联合培养本科生,与法国佩雷集团联合建立了北京建筑工程学院中法能源培训中心,并联合培养高职生。学校经北京市教育委员会批准于2004年招收外国留学生。


    北京建筑工程学院西直门校区占地118070平方米,校舍建筑面积142835平方米,教学科研用房50036平方米。2009年3月28日,北京建筑工程学院大兴新校区举行奠基仪式,标志着学校迈入了新的发展阶段。新校区占地635000平方米,新校区一期建成后,生均占地面积约为101平方米,生均校舍面积约为41平方米,教学科研用房约为23平方米。

 

    目前,学校固定资产总值37810万元,其中教学科研仪器值为14742万元,生均设备值为1.98万元。学校拥有多媒体教室和语音室座位9205个,计算机3754台。图书馆藏书110.4万册,生均149册,电子图书11.3万册,大型电子文献数据库24个,中外文期刊1237种;并与北京建筑文化中心共建中国建筑图书馆,成为全国建筑图书最齐全的高校。

 

    为适应首都高等教育跨越式发展和首都城市建设的需要,从2001年开始,学校稳步增设服务于城市规划、建设、管理服务的学科专业,逐步扩大了招生规模。学校坚持"立足首都,面向全国,依托建筑业,服务城市化"的办学服务面向定位,坚持服务于首都城市规划、建设和管理,学校正在成为服务首都城市化的人才培养基地、科技服务基地和以工为主,理、工、管、法等学科相互支撑、协调发展的大学。


     “十一五”以来,学校以教育部本科教学工作水平评估为契机,以科学发展观为指导,坚持内涵发展、人才强校、突出特色、服务首都的发展战略,进一步强化城市规划、建设和管理的学科专业优势,全面实现“十一五”发展规划目标,努力把建工学院办成首都人民满意的大学。
