由国家测绘局组织制订的国家标准《国家基本比例尺地图图式第三部分：1：25000 1：50000 1：1000000地形图图式》（标准号GB/T 20257.3-2006）第1号修改单，已由国家标准化管理委员会批准发布，开始实施。这一标准规定了国家基本比例尺地形图、电子地图等地图表示的各种地物、地貌要素符号和注记的颜色、规格、使用的原则和要求等。
