“他的足迹总和奇迹相伴，与第一相连”。这是今年6月“科学中国人第七届年度人物”评委会给兰州军区某测绘信息中心主任、高级工程师王明孝的颁奖词。

　　颁奖词中所说的奇迹，是指王明孝从解放军测绘学院毕业后到部队从事野外测绘工作22年，其足迹踏遍西部“无人区”，翻越海拔4000米以上的高山200多座，涉过河流千余条，行程240多万公里；其7项科研成果填补国内测绘领域空白，荣获包括3个一等奖在内的18个军队科技进步奖，两次荣立个人二等功。

　　实际上，王明孝创造的奇迹还远不止这些。

　　把测绘先进技术引入军事训练

　　盛夏，王明孝带领测绘人员在某炮兵训练场附近进行野外测绘时，发现炮兵的训练方法比较落后，反应速度慢，而且射击精度不高。

　　“能不能把军事测绘中的先进技术引入炮兵训练？”尽管他们此次测绘任务与炮兵训练毫不相关，但军人的使命感就像一面战鼓，催促着王明孝勇敢地向一个个未知领域迈进。

　　查阅资料、制定方案、实地论证……王明孝利用业余时间，经过半年多的探索研究，终于创造性地把测绘领域应用的卫星导航定位技术、数字摄影测量技术、遥感技术和地理信息系统技术应用到炮兵训练上。经过实弹射击检验，新系统比传统训练方法，在时间效率上提高了7倍，射击精度提高了5倍。

　　围绕打赢搞科研。王明孝始终坚持把军事斗争准备中的难点作为攻坚克难的重点，他带领技术人员自主研发的某地图分析系统，可以在野战条件下，为各级指挥员全程提供准确的数据分析和决策依据；凝聚着王明孝心血的《某型武器机动发射阵地控制网建设和精度可靠性研究》等9项获得军队科技进步奖的科研成果，均在部队推广应用。

　　近年来，王明孝带领测绘人员还先后完成了上海合作组织“和平使命—2007”多国反恐军事演习、抢险救灾等30多项军事行动所需的地理空间信息保障任务。

　　西部大开发推进到哪里，他的身影就跟进到哪里

　　当我国将要修建第一条数字化铁路——青藏铁路的消息发布时，正躺在病床上的王明孝异常激动。

　　尽管王明孝大部分时间都是在远离城市的荒漠高原上度过的，但他求知的目光却始终盯着国内外的学术前沿，始终关注着世界上最新的科研成果。5年前，西方某发达国家测绘人员建功数字化铁路的报道就引起过他的关注。从那时起，他开始悉心收集和刻苦学习有关数字化铁路的知识。现在，他终于等到了这一天。

　　然而，当时少数几个掌握数字化铁路先进测绘技术的西方国家却漫天要价。如果让外国公司承担这项工程，铁路沿线的地理信息机密也存在泄露的危险。因此，国家有关部门面临着艰难的抉择。

　　对此，王明孝拍案而起：“西藏的经济发展不能等，中国第一条数字化铁路的测绘必须由我们中国人自己来完成！”

　　随即，王明孝带着全体官兵的请战书和计划方案赶到铁道部和总参谋部主动请缨。2005年春节前夕，他率领15人的测绘分队奔向青藏高原。

　　尽管做好了充分的思想准备，但高原作业的艰辛仍然超乎想象。

　　野外作业第二天，受高寒缺氧影响，数据接收仪突然黑屏；按照国际标准，动态测量绝对误差必须小于1米，而当时我国的动态绝对误差是18米……

　　面对一个个的“拦路虎”，王明孝把冰封雪裹的高原“无人区”当成实验室，开始了中国测绘史和中国铁路建设史上第一条高原数字化铁路的测绘试验。

　　在零下三四十摄氏度的严寒中，稍不注意，双手就可能会和手套冻在一起；面包、方便面就雪水是家常便饭；因高原反应和超负荷工作晕倒后，吸口氧气继续工作……每一天，测绘官兵都要与恶劣的自然环境抗争。

　　屡试屡败，屡败屡试。

　　在5个月内，王明孝带领技术人员先后攻克50多个技术难题，创新12种作业方法，研制开发了10多套应用软件，测定高精度的三维坐标数据51.8万组，信号机位置、道叉点、变坡点等各种关键点数据11万组，比原计划提前90多天完成测绘任务，为国家节约经费4亿元。

　　经权威部门检测，测绘分队的所有数据均准确无误，全部达到设计要求，动态条件下绝对误差控制在0．3米以内，精度已超过世界先进水平。由王明孝主持研制的《青藏铁路ITCS系统动态GPS精确定位技术应用研究》，荣获军队科技进步一等奖，填补了我国测绘史上的多项空白。

　　从西气东输工程到酒泉千万瓦级风电场的基础测绘，从嘉峪关市大比例尺规划图到国家“1236”重点扶贫工程，从全球气候变暖中的地理数据采集到甘肃陇南地震灾区的踏勘……不管环境多么恶劣、任务多么繁重，西部大开发的进程推进到哪里，王明孝丈天量地的身影就会跟进到哪里。

　　“大西北是我最好的测绘实验室”

　　22年来，王明孝的足迹踏遍了祖国的西部山川，在不断填补测绘“空白点”的同时，也经历着一个又一个的生死考验。

　　王明孝担负的第一次野外测绘任务，是测量新疆阿勒泰山主峰友谊峰的高度。这是一块“无人区”，也是地图上的“空白点”。

　　在冰峰雪岭间行进，稍有不慎就会跌落山谷。突然，队伍前面的一匹马失足滑倒，在队友们的惊呼声中，王明孝躲闪不及被撞倒，滚出10多米后，幸好被一块大石头挡住，才没有像那匹马一样坠下悬崖。

　　被战友救起后，望着脚下幽深的山谷，王明孝双腿直打颤。

　　面对死亡的威胁，是继续前进，还是当逃兵？

　　在雪地上呆坐10多分钟后，王明孝勇敢地站了起来，与战友们一起，以顽强的毅力和惊人的意志克服重重困难，胜利完成了友谊峰的测量任务。他们以海拔4374米的准确数据，改写了苏联人于上世纪50年代测量的数据。

　　事后，他在日记中写道：“没有坚定的理想信念，报效祖国就会成为一句空话。”

　　“孩子，假如爸爸不再回来，你一定要坚强，听妈妈的话。”这是王明孝留给儿子的遗书。

　　其实，王明孝有很多机会离开这种艰苦的工作环境。他先后8次放弃调往总部、军区机关和军队科研院所的机会，6次拒绝地方公司的高薪聘请。

　　“我是大西北这个地质博物馆的受益者，这里是我最好的测绘实验室。”2009年6月20日，王明孝与“水稻之父”袁隆平等专家一起当选“科学中国人第七届年度人物”，颁奖典礼上，他如是说。

Western Development advanced to where his figure to follow up with where to go

The authoritative data, mapping all the data elements are accurate, all meet the design requirements, the absolute error control under the dynamic conditions of 0.3 meters, precision, more than the world advanced level. Developed by Wang Mingxiao presided over the "Qinghai-Tibet Railway ITCS system dynamic GPS precise positioning technology research", was awarded first prize for scientific and technological progress the armed forces to fill the many gaps in the history of our surveying and mapping.
