闵宜仁对山西省测绘工作给予了高度评价，称其工作有思路、有支撑、有创新、有成效。在观看“数字太原”地理空间信息公共平台有关演示中，闵宜仁指出，“数字太原”的成功建设及推广应用，意义重大。他希望有关部门继续在完善系统功能、加强机制建设、拓展应用水平方面下功夫，切实转变服务方式，加快推广应用“数字太原”地理空间信息公共平台。

　　专题调研会上，山西、吉林、江苏、福建、山东、重庆、四川、陕西测绘行政主管部门汇报了本地区贯彻落实《国家地理信息公共服务平台建设专项规划（2009-2015年）》和《关于加快推进国家地理信息公共服务平台建设的指导意见》的情况，提出了一些意见和建议；国家基础地理信息中心汇报了全国地理信息公共服务平台主节点建设情况，中国测绘科学研究院汇报了城市地理信息公共服务平台建设情况。在认真听取大家发言后，闵宜仁说，地理信息公共服务平台将作为信息化条件下我国地理信息公共服务的主要运行形态与手段，向各类用户提供权威高效的地理信息适时综合服务。这将极大地提升我国地理信息公共服务能力，有效地缓解地理信息供需矛盾，较好地满足政府、企业、社会大众对地理信息在线服务的需求。加快地理信息公共平台建设，对促进测绘成果广泛应用、推进地理信息资源共建共享和转变地理信息服务方式都具有重要的现实意义。今后，国家测绘局将继续统筹“数字城市”建设，不断提高基础地理信息资源获取能力；参与建设党委信息系统，搭建涉密网络环境；开展平台试点工作，积累平台建设经验；加强人才培养，提供人力资源支撑；积极争取项目立项，加快平台建设步伐。

　　他最后指出，各省级测绘行政主管部门要解放思想、转变观念，把地理信息公共服务平台建设放在国民经济信息化的大背景下来考虑和推进，测绘部门要从传统的提供图纸和数据转变为提供服务。要统筹规划、科学设计，将平台建设纳入“十二五”规划中，加强标准化建设，采用“搭积木”的方式建设平台。要夯实基础、精心组织，加强基础地理信息数据库建设，组织好本地区“数字城市”和平台建设。要加强应用、创新机制，根据需求牵引、协调发展的原则，在统一领导下，促使平台规范有序发展，同时，创新合作机制，共同促进平台建设和应用。要培养人才、强化宣传，通过多种方式加强人才培养，结合平台建设、应用的典型，加大宣传力度，吸引更多的部门和单位参与建设和使用平台。
