据了解，《广东省基础测绘“十一五”规划》2006年6月经省政府批准印发实施后，广东省国土资源厅建立了信息化测绘基准维护、信息化测绘数据获取、信息化测绘成果管理、信息化测绘服务保障四项机制，在现代测绘基础设施建设、基础地理信息资源建设、地理空间框架建设和公共服务平台建设、地理空间框架建设和公共服务平台建设、基础测绘成果开发与应用上取得突破和成效。

近三年来，广东省国土资源厅为省级基础测绘成果提供使用1358批次、控制点成果10571点、各种比例尺地形图和基础地理信息数据近10万幅，相当于“十五”期间使用量的1．5倍，为多个省直部门的信息化建设、应急指挥系统建设和决策管理提供有力支持，为近千个交通能源、地质、环保项目建设提供有效服务保障。《广东省“十二五”基础地理信息更新与应用研究》课题报告将报广东省发展改革委。
