南京林业大学坐落在风景秀丽的紫金山麓、碧波荡漾的玄武湖畔,是一所中央与地方共建并以地方管理为主的多科性大学。学校前身为中央大学(创建于1902年)森林系和金陵大学(创建于1888年)森林系,1952年合并组建南京林学院。1955年华中农学院林学系(武汉大学、南昌大学和湖北农学院森林系合并组成)并入,1972年更名为南京林产工业学院,1983年恢复南京林学院名称,1985年更名为南京林业大学。
学校现设有森林资源与环境学院、木材工业学院、化学工程学院、机械电子工程学院、土木工程学院、经济管理学院、人文社会科学学院、信息科学技术学院、风景园林学院、理学院、外国语学院、艺术设计学院、家具与工业设计学院、轻工科学与工程学院、汽车与交通工程学院、研究生院、应用技术学院、继续教育学院、国际教育学院、体育教育部和公有民办南方学院等21个院(部)、60个系(部)。
学校现有4个博士后流动站、3个一级学科博士点、30个博士点及博士学位授权领域、2个一级学科硕士点、54个硕士点及硕士学位授权领域和12个专业学位授权领域,具有硕士、博士学位整体授予权和副教授、教授任职资格的评审权。现有林业工程1个国家重点学科一级学科,生态学、林木遗传育种、林产化学加工工程、木材科学与技术、森林保护学等5个国家重点学科二级学科、10个省部级重点学科。
学校面向全国招生,现有56个本科专业,其中,国家级特色专业建设点3个,省级品牌专业3个,省级品牌专业建设点2个,省级特色专业7个,省级特色专业建设点1个。拥有国家级人才培养模式创新实验区1个,省级人才培养模式创新实验基地1个,省级优秀教学团队1个,省级科技创新团队1个,国家级精品课程3门,省级精品(优秀)课程26门。学校现有国家级实验教学示范中心1个,省级实验教学示范中心7个。共获得国家级教学成果一等奖1项,二等奖4项;获省级教学成果特等奖1项,一等奖6项,二等奖12项。2005年学校以优秀的成绩,通过了教育部本科教学工作水平评估。现有各类在校学生26000多人,其中博士与硕士研究生、外国留学生2800余人。学校先后为国家培养了8万多名建设人才。
学校现有专任教师1100余人,其中,中国工程院院士2名,外聘院士6名,博士生导师128名;具有正高职称147人,副高职称351人。学校占地面积378万平方米(约合5668亩),其中,新庄主校区占地1257亩,句容下蜀校区占地4370亩,江宁工程培训中心等占地41亩。现有教学科研仪器设备总值2.7亿元,图书馆纸质文献总量为157万册。校园网络以千兆带宽为主干,覆盖全校。
学校现有“林木遗传与生物技术省部共建教育部重点实验室”、“江苏省速生木材及农作物秸秆材料工程研究中心”、“国家林业局南方林木种子检验中心”等35个省、部级研究开发机构、重点实验室和工程研究中心,有46个校级科研所和研究中心。学校每年在研课题500多项,近年来,承担包括“973”、“863”、“948”项目、国家“十一五”科技支撑项目和部、省重点项目累计700余项,国家自然科学基金累计200余项。通过鉴定的科研成果及批准专利560余项,有282项成果获国家、部省级以上奖励。其中,国家发明一等奖1项、二等奖2项、三、四等奖各1项;国家自然科学奖二等奖1项;国家科技进步一等奖4项,二、三等奖36项;部、省级奖励235项。学校主办有《南京林业大学学报(自然科学版、人文社科版)》、《林业科技开发》和《室内设计与装修》等学术刊物,其中《南京林业大学学报》为中国核心期刊,《林业科技开发》已成为中国科技核心期刊。
学校积极开展对外学术交流,与美国、德国、加拿大等20多个国家的50多所高校或科研机构建立了广泛的学术交流和研究合作关系。学校具有招收外国留学生和招收港、澳、台学生的资质。为引进国外优质教育资源并向海外推出学校品牌特色专业,学校与美国北卡州立大学、加拿大UBC大学、多伦多大学、意大利佛罗伦萨大学、越南林业大学及新加坡南洋艺术学院等签订合作交流协议,积极探索多形式、多层次的合作办学模式。
