测绘与国土信息工程学院成立于2005年6月，是在1923年焦作工学院建立的测量工程学科基础上历经80多年的专业增扩、院系调整而发展起来的。现下设测量工程系、地理信息系统系、遥感科学与技术系、土地资源管理系、资源环境与城乡规划管理系，测绘中心实验室和土地资源管理实验室，开采沉陷与土地规划利用研究所（校级）以及具有国家乙级测绘资质的测绘信息工程中心等单位。
 

学院领导班子团结奉献、求实创新，全院教职工勇于开拓、积极进取，学科建设和办学条件等方面都得到了长足发展。学院现拥有大地测量学与测量工程学科博士学位授予权，该学科是河南省重点学科。具有测绘科学与技术一级学科硕士学位授予权，大地测量学与测量工程、地图制图学与地理信息工程、摄影测量与遥感、地图学与地理信息系统、土地资源管理5个二级学科硕士点，测绘工程领域工程硕士授予权。我院是河南省测绘与国土领域规模最大、层次最高的专业教育与科学研究基地，在国内已产生较大影响，部分研究方向如矿山开采地表沉陷监测与采动损害防护、数字矿山建设、小型数码航空摄影测量等在全国同类院校居于先进水平。
 

开设测绘工程、土地资源管理、资源环境与城乡规划管理、地理信息系统、遥感科学与技术5个本科专业，目前在校本科学生1500多人、研究生80多人。
 

拥有一支学历层次、年龄、职称结构合理的教职工队伍，其中，教授12名，博士生导师6名，副教授、高工17名，其中具有博士学位者14名，在读博士7名。刘先林、王家耀2位中国工程院院士为我院双聘院士、博士生导师，省内外知名专家张震宇、禄丰年等12人为兼职硕士研究生导师。陈俊勇、李德仁、宁津生等7位院士及20多位教授、专家任我院兼职教授。我院与武汉大学、解放军信息工程大学、中国矿业大学、中国测绘科学研究院、中科院遥感所、中科院测地所等高校和科研院所有较密切的合作关系。
 

近年来，学院共主持承担国家863、973项目2项，国家自然科学基金、省部级科技攻关、基金等纵向科研项目20余项，完成地方政府、企事业单位委托科研或技术推广项目45项，25项成果达到国内先进或领先水平，3项达到国际先进水平。获省部级以上科技进步奖15项，优秀教学成果特等和一、二等奖6项；在国内核心期刊或国际学术会议上发表或宣读论文579篇，其中有30多篇论文被SCI或EI检索，出版专著和教材20余部。有多人次荣获“河南省管优秀专家”、“河南省青年科技专家”、“河南省优秀中青年骨干教师”、“河南省优秀教师”、“河南省文明教师”等称号。
 

多年来，学院一直积极探索与高水平教学研究型大学相适应的学生工作思路，坚持以学生为主体、把德育放在首位的工作理念，逐步形成了党政齐抓共管、政治辅导员和班主任“两条线”管理、全员育人和全程育人的学生管理服务体制。教师严谨治学、教书育人、严格要求，学生勤奋学习、勇于实践，使学生学习质量稳步提高，学生一次就业率、研究生考取等指标均居全校前列。
