学院师资力量雄厚，综合办学实力位居测绘工程专业全国榜首。现有教职员工114人，其中，中国科学院院士1名（陈俊勇，兼职）、中国工程院院士2名（宁津生、刘经南），长江学者特聘教授1人，博士生导师24人，教授32人，副教授14人，讲师16人，有30%的教师有国外学习或研究经历，并且有的还是国际学术组织的负责人。教师中有入选国家百千万工程人才第一、第二层次人选；有获全国“五.一”劳动奖章、国家有突出贡献中青年专家、国务院政府特殊津贴、全国先进工作者、中国青年科技奖、国家杰出青年科学基金资助、何梁何利科学与技术进步奖等荣誉称号的专家教授。
    学院现有在校本科生1000多人、函授生1700多人、硕士生200多人、博士生80多人，学院的毕业生在国内、国际上享有很高的声誉，一次性就业率连续5年在97%以上，社会需求人数与毕业生人数之比达8：1。
    学院拥有三个部级重点实验室：地球空间环境与大地测量教育部重点实验室、精密工程测量与测量机器人国家测绘局重点实验室、极地测绘科学国家测绘局重点实验室，还设有国际全球导航卫星服务系统(IGS)GPS永久性卫星跟踪站和GPS差分基准站，中国南极测绘研究中心、灾害预防与防治研究中心。学院教学、科研设备齐全，有充足的高端GPS接收机、各种类型的全站仪、数字水准仪、影像处理软硬件等。
    测绘学院下设测绘工程、卫星应用工程以及地球物理3个系。学院内设五个研究所：航空航天测绘研究所、空间信息工程研究所、测量工程研究所、地球物理大地测量研究所、卫星应用工程研究所，设有为教学服务的测绘实验中心和多个为科研服务的专业实验室。
 　 近半个世纪以来，在夏坚白、陈永龄、叶雪安等老一辈测绘专家、学者的艰苦创业和精心耕耘下，建成了以测绘学科为核心的全国测绘高等教育基地，成为中国测绘科学与技术的发祥地和高级测绘人才培养的摇篮。学院先后为我国测绘教学、科研和生产行业培养了2万多名测绘高级人才，取得了一大批具有国际先进水平或国内领先水平的测绘科技与教学成果。经过几十年的建设与发展，学院已成为世界最大的综合性测绘学院，为我国测绘教育事业和测绘科技的发展、为我国的社会主义现代化建设做出了重要贡献，测绘学子遍布寰宇、蜚声海外，学院被国际测绘界誉为“测绘教育之都”。
　　测绘学院创建50年来，锐于改革， 勇于创新，积极大力推进教学、科研、社会服务等工作，取得了一大批服务于国家经济和国防建设等领域的重大成果，培养了一大批中国测绘事业的领军人物，学院始终按照“高品质、国际化、创新型”的办学理念，大力推进学院发展。测绘学院已经制定好更高的发展目标，国家重点学科建设、“211工程”、“985”等重大项目已经陆续启动，在测绘学院的积极努力下，与国家测绘局、测绘行业、国内外著名测绘仪器商及国防、海洋、能源交通、城市建设、信息产业、具有测绘教育能力的高等教育机构等各方面业已存在的良好合作，正在得到进一步的加强。测绘学院人将秉承“敬业 乐群 求是 创新”的院训精神，坚持科学发展观，坚持“发展是第一要务、科技是第一生产力、人才是第一资源、创新是第一竞争力”的工作指导思想，围绕建设“国内外一流学院”的宏伟目标，为测绘教育事业的发展、测绘科技进步和中国社会主义经济建设，作出更大贡献。

Institute of Surveying and Mapping Wuhan University is the successor of the original set up in 1956 Wuhan Institute of Surveying Cartography. Jiangcheng College is located in Wuhan, located in the south bank of the Yangtze River, Wuhan East Lake Sea, accurate positioning in the scenic south of Luojia Hill.      Institute of Surveying and Mapping is a mapping project (urban spatial information engineering, geodesy, surveying engineering, satellite applications engineering, photogrammetry and remote sensing, cartography and geographic information systems), geophysics institute of science and engineering in one of China's surveying and mapping technology and famous university education.
